Note the sloping window ledges to prevent
them being used for filing purposes! The
glass in the window is also opaque to
prevent staff from looking out to
day-dream and thus waste time. Heating was
under-floor in hot water pipes. Electric
sockets were flush with the floor. This
open-plan office is a rather stark working
environment but it was considered leading
edge design when it was built in 1934.
