The children are Xavier and Lydia Goodman, both Junior Members in good standing of the WLMS. The club actively encourages youngsters to take up the hobby and these kids are a wow with Plastic Meccano. Lydia gave the "one, two, three go!" and acted as line judge. A nice line-up of Tug-of War contestants. showing plenty of diversity. - Wellington Meccano Club. The big tow truck named Xena (behind the VW Bug), designed and built by Simon Moody was the winner. It has 6 wheel drive, front and middle axle 'floating' so that all wheels were on the floor. The rules were as follows: No 1 clockwork motor Meccano parts or replicas only (tyres Meccano only) Qualifying run of at least 2 metres (limits gearing) on one wind up. No alteration to tractor between runs apart from rewind. Then the competition tug of war to pull the opponent back wards at least150mm. (300mm of chain with hooks at end to link opponents)
